Cows have always played an integral role in human development, directly contributing to civilized societies and otherwise for many centuries. Cows and bulls have taken up a vital role since millennia, when humans transitioned to agriculture—a relatively peaceful existence compared to hunting—establishing a deep bond with humans.
Apart from the emotional connection, cows continue to provide essential commodities for human physical and spiritual development. Milk, yogurt, ghee, dung, and urine are the five commodities called Pancha Gavya, which are used for consumption and ritualistic practices.
Here in the ashram, there were 8 cows residing in the year 2011, after which the numbers have gradually increased to more than 70 as of 2021. Performing Go Poojai is equivalent to doing the auspicious Kubera Poojai. Feeding a cow with fresh grass, August tree leaves (Agathi keerai), and bananas is equivalent to conducting a Go Pooja.
When providing a single banana fruit can shower you with infinite blessings, think of the good deeds that will be added to your account upon feeding proper fodder and giving utmost care and love.
What else will fetch you more benefits? Feeding cottonseed milk with jaggery on Amavasya days (No Moon Day) will positively affect your Pithru Karma.
The effect of the planet that troubles you can be reduced by feeding jaggery pongal on the day of the specific planet.
Those unable to conduct Go Poojai at home can utilize the opportunity at Sri Varahi Peedam. Every day at noon (12 PM), Go & Aswa Poojai is meticulously done with feeds and aarthi to the cows & horse.
We will be giving arisi, paruppu, vellam, ellu, vaazhaipazham, and Agathi keerai for all gomathas. During this auspicious day, those who want to do this seva, kindly book it in advance. It is a very powerful seva when you combine the pitru kaaryam along with gomatha seva.
By giving ellu punnakku for all the gomathas and bulls, it's very auspicious for the following reasons:
1. Those who are on the verge of a shake-up in their profession/jobs.
2. Those who are praying for a male child in their families.
3. Pitru Dhosam (பித்ரு தோஷம்) due to not performing the karmaas properly. Try it out and see the difference for yourself based on feedback from those who have done this seva.
4. Those who are willing to perform goo dhanam can do so or adopt a cow.
